5 Changes I'm Making For the Future
Monday, 11 December 2017
It's been a couple of weeks since I turned 23 and it's given me a little time to think about what I want from life. I'm definitely not a teenager anymore, I'm firmly sat in my twenties. I'm an adult and with that comes adulting. I'm definitely not the best at keeping my self-confidence up but I've always been good at deflecting to make it seem peachy, so much so that even after years of friendship, people are only now beginning to notice how difficult I find it.
1. Take Better Care of my Body
It's easy to get trapped in the 'I Wish' mindset about my body when I'm scrolling through instagram, but now I have been gifted a gym membership, I'll be able to actually achieve the goals I desire. Not only does exercising improve you mentally and physically, it helps introduce you to healthy habits and social situations which can be hard at first but will be fruitful.
2. Dress Better
The way I look takes a massive toll on my self-esteem. When I dress in oversized hoodies and sweatpants, I find myself walking around with my head down, hoping to avoid human interaction when I'm out and about but that's not the way too be. It may sound stupid, but doing the little things like putting on that cute pair of dungarees I like or washing my curls so they're defined and putting them into a little pineapple make me happy and I need to do that more.
3. Be my own Hype Man
I have vowed to stop letting that little voice in my head get the best of me. I need a new mantra, one that reminds me that no matter how helpless I feel, I need a mantra that will help me get out of bed in the morning, put a smile on my face and remind me that I am the sum of my all of my parts and not just my failures.
4. Let My Creative Side Take Over
Some of my happiest times have been when I've found a new hobby and I am able to let my creative juices flow and to look at the work I have created. I've started embroidery and water colour and right now, it brings me such peace whenever my mind is in turmoil.
5. Ask For Help
I gets harder, especially when I get older, to ask for help, especially when there is so much pressure in the world to have everything sorted out for ourselves as soon as we leave home. It can be hard to ask for help, but there are always people around who love you and are willing to help you, even if it's just a cup of tea and a listening ear.
Confidence in myself and my abilities are what is going to bring this new year in my life to greater heights than the previous years. Bring it on 2018!
